Plastic Free July
Plastic Free July: small swaps, adding up to a global wave
Every July, a gentle challenge spreads around the world: give up a little single use plastic and see what sticks. What began as one woman's idea in Perth has grown into Plastic Free July, an Australian born movement that now reaches millions of people across the globe. The rules are kind and simple, refuse what you can, swap what you can, and do not worry one bit about being perfect.
The magic is in the maths. One person carrying a reusable bag or bottle barely registers, but millions doing it together keep a mountain of plastic out of streets, rivers and seas. Better still, the new habits tend to linger long after the month ends. It is proof that big change does not always need big gestures, just a lot of us, choosing a little better.
Our short take: learn more at Plastic Free July, the movement that started right here in Australia. Read more →
